Mom is Able to Teach & Guide Autistic Son to Start Own Internet Business with Renegade Professional Training

Just as we promised, Marketing Merge is announcing another all expense paid winner to our Renegade Professional Live Event this weekend.

But first, have you ever read anything more inspiring?

Go ahead and read a portion from Rana Burr’s all expense paid Renegade Professional Live Event winning essay,

“Nearest and dearest to me, though, is the guidance that I have been able to give to my 13 year old son as he builds his own internet business. Most people would have given up on the idea of him ever being able to support himself financially because of his autism.”

Using Renegade Professional to integrate family into the culture of her home business environment isn’t the only reason Rana Burr was chosen as the second winner of the all expense paid Renegade Professional Live Event. Rana systematically broke down with succinct clarity how Renegade Professional has enhanced her business with specific and clear results.

Read Rana Burr’s full contest winning essay below

rana & kidsWhat Renegade Professional did for me was to fill in my marketing gaps, making me far more effective and knowledgeable. The comprehensive training offered here is awe-inspiring.

It is also a resource that I can whole-heartedly recommend to marketers of any level. My further involvement in Renegade Breakthrough Mentoring as a home study student helped me to make huge leaps in my confidence and in my vision for my business.

Here’s what has happened as a result:

1. My upline asked me to lead a small group in developing a lead generation system for our team.

Thanks to the knowledge I have gained through Marketing Merge, I was able to guide them through the process of setting up their own HubPages, Squidoo lenses, and blog posts. In addition, they are now back-link-building experts, so that our page is #2 on Yahoo for an extremely competitive search phrase, generating multiple leads on a daily basis.

2. I have been able to offer my services to a handful of local business owners that I really like so that they can enjoy online success, too.

This has been extremely gratifying in light of the current economy. Not only have I helped them to stay in business, but I am having fun and making money at the same time!

3. Being involved with the Super Guide program, even though it has only been for a short time, has enabled me to team up on an amazing new project with someone I consider to be a superstar.

Awesome.

4. Nearest and dearest to me, though, is the guidance that I have been able to give to my 13 year old son as he builds his own internet business.

Most people would have given up on the idea of him ever being able to support himself financially because of his autism. Thanks to Ann and Mike, I now consider him to be my business partner! He is so good at taking what he has learned and implementing it right away (as opposed to taking notes and adding it to a long list of things to do). I hope everyone will get to meet him someday soon.

One last thing.

The sense of community that Ann, Mike, Eric, Didi, and the rest of the team at Marketing Merge have built is incredible

.

These guys are genuinely committed to seeing everyone be successful. I especially appreciate how they give their members opportunities to contribute on a regular basis. I don’t think there is another organization like theirs anywhere in the world, and I feel extremely grateful to be a part of it.

Great job Rana! We’re looking forward to meeting you with the rest of the Marketing Merge community this weekend here in Portland, Oregon.

The team here at Marketing Merge is happy that Renegade Professional has produced good results for you. This remains the motivation that keeps us continuing the product and program development that makes Renegade Professional the best training on the internet.

Breaking News – Contest Winner Marie Leonard Responds with Unsolicited “Trimmed” Version of Winning Essay. Read It Here, Read It Now

I woke up this morning to find a message from Marie Leonard with an abbreviated version of her winning essay. The word count was 439. It was just as brilliant. But the bigger (and more impressive) issue here is that no one asked Marie to do that. By no means did she have to or need to. It just goes to show what kind of special people we have in this community.

Read Marie Leonard’s winning essay-

When I was nine, I had to watch over my 2 year old brother while my mum
went to town for errands. Being nine, a little brother was more of a nuisance
than a blessing, especially when potty time came around. I had
explicit instructions to sit him on his little potty chair and do what was
necessary when he was done. Oh joy!

Once I had disposed of the removable pot, I had to extricate him from this
contraption. The potty chairs back then had a movable arm that swung down
in front of the child to stop them from getting up. Well, the arm got
stuck. I tried everything. I shook and I pulled and at one point grabbed
him by the ankles and dangled him upside down in the hopes that the potty
chair would just fall off. No such luck!

You might be wondering what all of this has to do with being a Renegade
Professional. Well, it wasn’t until I became a Renegade Professional that
I stopped hanging upside down by the ankles. It was here that I had to
take stock of where I had been and where I wanted to go.

Focus, resolve to succeed and confidence that I will succeed, are now my
constant companions.

As to what I learned? Nothing easier with Steve Anderson’s insightful
Wordpress tutorials clearly describing the funnel effect of marketing.
Applying what I learned as a member of the link logic team further embedded
in me the importance of SEO done right.

The perks don’t stop there, however. Thanks to Marketing Merge
generosity, Daivd Garfinkel, copywriting guru, exploded the lid off
Pandora’s copywriting box in a 6 week Ultimate Copywriting Course that
invariably has become part of my writing style today.

Better equipped with marketable skills, I now feel confident building an
SBI site that will deliver the kind of value people are looking for.

However, the knowledge I now have weighs heavily upon my shoulders. I can
no longer write just so-so, get by content. It’s a matter of delivering
value or not deliver at all.

Having achieved super guide status and now participating as a PBN trainer
developing the alternative health field is allowing me to give back. I am
doubly blessed.

Moreover, participating in the Coaching Cognition course has me ripping
away any pretense at faking it. Here is a safety net without judgment.
These coaching skills are now an important part of the resume that I bring
to the online marketing table.

Oh and by the way, my poor brother had to spend 2 hours shackled to his
potty before deliverance came!

Thanks Marie. You really didn’t have to do that. You went above and beyond what was expected of you. I guess that keeps with what you were talking about by being able to give back just as much as you feel you are receiving.

Keep eyes posted for another all expense paid trip winner.

Contest Winning Copywriting that was too Good? (Seriously!)

Get a load of this… here is some Renegade Professional News for you…

Apparently, we got so caught up in the brilliance of Marie Leonard’s all expense winning Renegade Professional Live Event ticket essay that we missed something in our own fine print.

Ooops!

When we invited you to reply at our Renegade Professional News

Facebook page with your response for the contest, we specified it should be no longer than 450 words.

We completely lost sight of this when reading Marie Leonard’s

winning contest essay because it was so good; so captivating, we lost sight of one thing…

It was longer than 450 words.

(Don’t worry Marie, we’ll get you here even if we’re all taking turns pushing you in the wheelbarrow).

Anyway, we discussed this as a team and came to a conclusion.

Some could perceive this as an unfair advantage, and we don’t want that.

We realized that we made an honest mistake, and we want to own up to it.

So we’re going to announce ANOTHER ALL EXPENSE PAID LIVE EVENT WINNER.

That’s correct.

We’re heading back to Renegade Professional News Facebook page to review the essays for one more deserving winner

.

We’ll announce the winner in 24 hours.

Please except our apologies for not reading our own fine print.

With strong core values at the heart of our community, we feel it was important to communicate this to you.

Be on the lookout tomorrow, as we announce another all expense

paid Renegade Professional Live Event winner.

Sincerely,

Renegade Professional Team

P.S. Late Breaking News – I woke up this morning to find a message from Marie Leonard with an abbreviated version of her winning essay. The word count was 439. It was just as brilliant. But the bigger (and more impressive) issue here is that no one asked Marie to do that. By no means did she have to or need to. It just goes to show what kind of special people we have in this community.

And the Winner of the Renegade Professional Live Event Is…(Drum Roll Please)

If you haven’t been keeping up with the Renegade Professional News, we happily announced the winner of the all expenses paid trip to the Renegade Professional Live Event in Portland, Oregon this January 16th and 17th during our Ustream broadcast we held at the Marketing Merge office.

To participate, you simply had to go to our Renegade Professional Facebook page and state the ways in which Renegade Professional has made a difference for you. Over 55 of you submitted essays for us to review.

And after reading and re-reading the contestant entries, it was Marie Leonard who clearly stood out as the winner. Her submission addresses the over-the-top value that Renegade Professional and the Marketing Merge community as a whole, has to offer.

And likewise, as Marie so eloquently states in the conclusion of her submission, it’s not that she has only taken all this value to build up her skill set, and therefore realizing that becoming an internet marketer is not a pipe dream, it’s that the value she’s received is allowing her to give it back (in a big way).

Marie you get it. You get it BIG TIME!

There were two other winners who won one free admission ticket to the Renegade Professional Live Event. They were Dotty Scott and Angela Arnold. We will feature their winning essays at The Renegade Professional News.

But right now – don’t hesitate – read Marie Leonard’s winning essay. Read every word. This is some of the best content you’ll read all year not because she gives so much credit to Renegade Professional.

We say it’s the best content you’ll read all year because Marie clearly is using what she has learned, and that is brilliantly illustrated by the copywriting skills she employed to craft this essay. She also integrates humor, which is a great strategy for grabbing people’s attention.

And she did! She definitely grabbed our attention, and when you begin to read Marie’s essay, she’ll grab yours too.

Marie Leonard’s All Expense Paid Trip to Portland Live Event Winning Essay

Marie Leonard

Marie Leonard

When I was nine, I had to watch over my 2 year old brother while my mum went to town for errands. Being nine, a little brother was more of a nuisance than a blessing, especially when potty time came around. I had explicit instructions to sit him on his little potty chair and do what was necessary when he was done. Oh joy!

Once I had disposed of the removable pot, I had to extricate him from this contraption. The potty chairs back then had a movable arm that swung down in front of the child to stop them from getting up off the seat. Well, the arm got stuck and here was my poor brother, unable to get off the chair.

I tried everything. I shook and I pulled and at one point grabbed him by the ankles and dangled him upside down in the hopes that the potty chair would just fall off. No such luck!

You might be wondering what all of this has to do with being a Renegade Professional. Well, it wasn’t until I became a Renegade Professional that I stopped hanging upside down by the ankles. It was here that I had to take stock of where I had been and where I wanted to go.

I became more focused as I applied the lessons learned. My resolve to succeed grew. If Mike (Klingler)could do it, so could I. If Ann (Sieg), DiDi (Alcheva) and Eric (Walker) could do it, so could I. I now feel more and more validated that my decision to become an online marketer is not a pie in the sky dream, but a reachable vision that Renegade Professional has clearly articulated for me.

Attending Steve Anderson’s WordPress course was a real eye opener for me. It’s not that I didn’t know anything about WordPress. After all, I maintain two WordPress sites and do all the technical work myself.

No, it’s the concept of building a funnel structure that the search engines like, and that sets your site apart from all others that are just haphazardly put together, no matter how good the content. I could really appreciate the value of that knowledge and have since started to revamp my blogs with that structure in mind.

What helped even further was being a member of the Super Guide program. And within the Super Guide program, being a member of the link logic team. This forced me to really understand the concept fully. As a Super Guide, I was practicing what was being preached!

Moreover, I have now ventured into SBI territory, creating a site that I know will deliver the kind of value people are looking for.

Eric Walker’s latest post to all Super Guides about burrowing down deep and becoming a relative expert/authority on one particular topic, gave me lots of food for thought. I love doing video and so have started a series of videos that will promote each tier of my site. Along with the specific knowledge I gained on keyword research and linking strategies, I can now easily see how to monetize it.

Without the background tutorials provided in Renegade Professional, I doubt if my grasp of those concepts would be as clear today.

Who said Pandora’s Box was a bad thing! That’s how I view David Garfinkel’s Ultimate Copy Writing Course. As a member of the Super Guide program, I actually received Garfinkel’s course for free. He helped me “blow the lid,” and made it alright to use imagery and feelings in one’s writing that captures the audience and keep them wanting more. It’s not that I didn’t know that one could not write this way, but what I didn’t know was how I could. He clearly defined the guidelines and even gave us all templates to make the writing process even easier. What a guy!

However, the knowledge I took away from this course weighs heavily upon my shoulders now. I can no longer write just “so-so, get by content.” I am now obliged to deliver in an entertaining and value driven way or not deliver at all.

To top it all, taking the Coaching Cognition course has me ripping away any pretense at faking it. It is also providing me with a safety net I never had before. Knowing there is someone there who understands, and to whom I can confide my apprehension, successes and vision with, is too big for words.

It is so huge that I feel compelled to provide the same service for others. After all, other people feel uncertain and apprehensive too and may need a sympathetic ear where judgment just is not part of the vocabulary.

Again, if I hadn’t become a Renegade Professional in the first place, I may never have advanced as far as fast. Being a Super Guide and PBN trainer to boot has allowed me to take, but more importantly, it is allowing me to give back. I am doubly blessed.

Oh and by the way, my poor brother had to spend 2 hours shackled to his potty before deliverance came!

Season Greetings to All,
Marie Leonard

Hope you enjoyed that. Thank you Marie Leonard! You are proof that what we’re doing is working. We certainly are looking forward to meeting you in two weeks here in Portland for the Renegade Professional Live Event.

Angela Arnold’s Live Event Ticket Winning Essay

I came to Renegade Professional seven weeks ago.
After studying Dotty Scott’s Twitter tutorial, I created my own twitter background. Although I have 4000+ Twitter followers, I gained valuable insights into automating my tweets and leveraging twitter applications.
I’d already set up some blogs, so I thought I knew what I was doing. Nevertheless I reviewed Steven Anderson’s Wordpress tutorials, and I was astounded to find out I had the wrong settings on my blog. After changing my settings and adding the ping services he recommended, I experienced a whopping 3200% increase in traffic to one of my blogs. Now I promise to review ALL of the Renegade trainings because one nugget of overlooked information can have an astonishing effect on your business.
I’m very enthusiastic about everything Renegade Professional has to offer. I look forward to becoming a coach, Super Guide, trainer, and a PBN Marketing Specialist. I have created more than 100 videos, and I am planning to get into video marketing and podcasting in a big way.
Coaching Cognition is absolutely phenomenal. In fewer than three weeks, I have learned and implemented so much. In fact, I just helped my son work through an employment-related situation by just helping him to understand the difference between sympathetic listening and empathetic listening.
My peer coaches and I have already engaged in such deeply personal and empowering conversations that I’m certain we’ll be friends and business partners for life.
What makes Renegade Professional so compelling is its hands-on instruction. Research indicates that we’ll remember 10% of what we hear; 30% of what we hear and see; 70% of what we hear, see, and do; and almost 90% of what we hear, see, do, and teach. Renegade Professional encourages us to teach others what we know, and that’s the most effective type of learning.
Despite all of the fantastic training, the most precious resource of Renegade Professional is its people.
Warren Little was the first person to offer feedback on my newly published website.
When I created an autoresponder sequence for my leads, I contacted some Renegade Facebook friends whom I’d never met and requested a brief testimonial to use as social proof for my email campaign. Within 24 hours, I received written testimonials from Barbara Silva and Cindy Schulson, and a bit later from Becky Joubert, James Rouse, Liz Bronson, and Donna Wells.
The close-knit Renegade Professional community is inhabited by go-givers and dynamos, and I am terribly grateful to have found these caring, incredibly generous folks. We renegades develop unprecedented leadership skills as we plant our marketing flags in cyberspace.
It’s an incredibly rewarding, deeply fulfilling journey.
Thank you so much, Mike, Ann, and the entire renegade family.

Dotty Scott’s Live Event Ticket Winning Essay

Dotty Scott

Dotty Scott

I use Renegade Professional in a slightly different way than the average person.

I came to Renegade when it was newly launched because of reading Ann’s Renegade ebook. I own and operate a web design business and I had been previously thinking that my clients need more than just a website – they need to learn how to market their new site.

I had no experience with Squidoo, HubPages (never even heard of them). I knew what blogging was but never had done anything with it. I basically had no experience with Social Media of any kind.

I went through some (not all) of the video trainings in the back office – a few each weekend. I then started using what I had learned for my own business to see what results I could get. My traffic and website inquiries went up drastically.

I then took the lessons learned and started social media consulting (an add-on package) for my clients to teach them how to use social media in their business too. Selling this social media package has increased the bottom line for my business and carried me through the summer months that are traditionally very dry.

Prior to Renegade Professional I had never made a Camtaisa training – did not know how. Renegade Professional taught me how to use the Camtaisa technology and I have been able to produce useful trainings for both the Renegade Professional community and for my customer base – another add-on sale for my business.

Renegade Professional has taught me ways to increase the dollar amount of each sael per customer as well as how to bring in new customers, and even customers that do not need a website but need either technical web help or help with social media.

Renegade Professional has helped my business get through a very tough year, and come out with increased revenue over the past years.

Way to go!

When Marie Leonard Says She Lives Off the Grid, She Really Means Off the Grid!

Marie Leonard lives off the grid. We didn’t know just “how off the grid” until we contacted her to inform her of winning the all expense paid trip to Portland, Oregon for the Renegade Professional Live Event.

Ever heard of Cochrane, Ontario? Me either. Take a look at the Google Map to see what “off the grid” really means.

It's a long way from Cochrane, Ontario Canada to Portland, Oregon USA

It's a long way from Cochrane, Ontario Canada to Portland, Oregon USA

Marie, respectfully, once told me it would suit her better if Super Guide webinars were earlier than the usual 6:30 PST/EST because for her, that’s about the time she runs the generator to boost their backup batteries, and going out to start that generator at -20 degrees is better at 6:30 EST than it is at 9:30 EST.

Not your average internet marketer, eh?!

Marie is an alternative health researcher and practitioner who has recently expanded her knowledge to marketing online.

Marie, literally, lives off the grid – in the bush – in a log home overlooking a lake where internet access is very limited. This has challenged her to overcome this barrier. As a result, she loves to help others who may be similarly challenged by coaching them to be successful online.

Just to give you an idea of how far Marie has to travel to reach Portland, she would normally have to drive a full day to reach the nearest airport. But instead, Marketing Merge is arranging it so she only has to drive about an hour to a small-time nearby local airport. From there, Marie will be able to connect to a larger airport, and make her way to Portland.

Take a look at pictures of Marie’s property.

marie-log-home

It might have been easy to conveniently skip by Marie’s winning essay. There are that many top responses. Doing so could have been a more prudent business decision. But that’s exactly the point, Marketing Merge has proven to make wise business decision after wise business decision. That’s what creates a million dollar company. And those decisions get made by putting people first.

Great job Marie Leonard. On behalf of all Renegade Professional and Marketing Merge, we’re wishing you the very safest of travels.

In fact, we wish all of you traveling from great distances safe travels, we are excited to meet you all. We’ll see you in about 10 days.

  1. Marie – I know you’ve told me about living ‘off the grid’, but seeing the pictures and the map really puts it in perspective.

It looks so peaceful – what a beautiful view!

I look forward to meeting you in Portland.
    Safe travels!

  2. Thanks Michael. Me too! But Mike may have to whip out that wheel barrow he mentioned to come and get me with if I don’t see any air plane ticket action real soon.

  3. Congrats to Angela and Dotty. It’ll be great to connect with such talented ladies!

  4. Marie, such brilliant copy writing and I know you echoed the sentiments of many Renegade Professionals but you said it so magnificently for us all. I loved the humour and the way you kept us there until the end guessing about the potty.

Have an incredible time in Portland on this historical occasion.

Perhaps we can expect a great piece of content relaying all the wonderful things and people you will encounter.

    Comment by Judith Atkinson — January 7, 2010 @ 8:17 am

  5. Marie, you put into words so well, how the journey Renegade Professional has manifested for most of us who have plugged through to the Super Guide program.

It is like moving from using bird shot for hunting White Tail deer in the back forty to rifle. The target is much more focused, the aim is sure, a direct hit in much more likely to happen.

Coaching Cognition is the icing on the cake, or the deer in the bag (lol) with the added skill sets of listening, understanding and guiding.

Great essay, and I do look forward to a big hug in Portland.

  6. Cool, I just got to Eric’s last comments about “reading the fine print”.

This is just like Marketing Merge, to be so generous on one end to operate from the “heart and gut response”. Then when a goof up is made, to acknowledge it and make good on it.

    Congratulations to the second winner.

    Comment by Pat Campbell — January 7, 2010 @ 2:39 pm

  7. Hello, everyone.

First of all, I am sending this message out to the entire Renegade community.

I don’t usually go public on a lot of blogs, but I feel compelled to write a few items. Please forgive me if I ramble or go off-topic. I feel like Sally Fields when she won an Oscar and blurted out as part of her acceptance speech, “You like me. You really like me!”

Marie, I’d like to applaud your contest victory, and I’m sure you have many achievements to be proud of. Even though your home is in the boonies, it looks like a very pleasant place to live. I am also glad that we are in the same Coaching Cognition training class. We’ll have lots of things to talk about in Portland, and I am looking forward to meeting you and the rest of the renegades.

Dotty, please accept my congratulations for your extremely well-written and heartfelt essay. Thanks for thinking of me and referring a facebook fan. We really have to look each other up at the Live Event.

As a testament to the strength and caring of our supportive community, I started receiving pats of the back from my friends and associates as soon as my name was announced. It was truly thrilling and a marvelous way to start the new year.

I will work my hardest to make 2010 a fantastic one that exemplifies the best that Renegade Professional and attraction marketing have to offer.

So once again, thanks Mike, Ann, Eric, Didi, and congrats Marie and Dotty.

    Comment by Angela Arnold — January 7, 2010 @ 4:31 pm

  8. Marie,
I know we talked already, but I wanted you to know how proud I was of you. You always go over and above what is expected.
I love hearing about you living “off the grid”. You’re very deserving.
And Dotty and Angela are 2 lucky and talented marketers as well!

I just checked out the map and thought “Gee, that area looks kind of familiar.” My father and I used to travel to the Rouyn-Noranda area to go fishing when I was younger. We wouldn’t see anybody else the entire time we were there. Just bears and moose.

  15. It’s happening, we are here!!!

It is amazing to meet face to face with the friends, “heroes” who mentor and teach us.

The sound of the meeting rooms is a buzz of sound as friends meet up with each other and meet new friends.

Plan for 2011 to be here.

I have already had the incredible experience of being at the receiving end of your generosity. And you don’t know me from Adam! Congratulations Marie, that article is obviously a winner. I believe I am a fan for life.

    @Angela
Hi there Marketing Guru! I didn’t know you have 100 odd videos out there! You inspire me to go back to my tutorials! Congrats!

    @Dotty
You’re driving home the same point. Hit the tutorials! And Congratulations.

    @Rana
Your story touched home for me. I want to help the less fortunate make a living! I know one mother who has 2 (yes you read right, TWO) autistic children. Another intelligent 35 year old who is the kindest soul ever) has been shortchanged from living a decent life because she has epilepsy. And a fourth graduate who cannot get a decent job because he is wheelchair bound! Wouldn’t it be grand to give them something that would give them a decent source of income.

Thanks for all the inspiring stories. Gosh I really missed out by not going for the live event.

What People Are Saying...

I am so glad I made it to the Live Event! I had just been recovering from back surgery and didn't know if I could handle both the travel and sitting time, but I made up my mind I would still continue with my plans, and am thankful I did. It exceeded all my expectations! I loved getting to meet all my Renegade friends in person, as well as getting to meet other new friends who are aspiring entrepreneurs. I know we are on the cutting edge of something so BIG! The Live Event was over the top, and the people who make up the Renegade Community are amazing! Looking forward to attending the next one!
