  1. Our ebook is on it’s way, Jerry. Today may be April Fool day but there those that enter this contest certainly are not fools, by any means.

What better way to push past your comfort zone and produce value while branding yourself all in one package.

    Comment by Marie Leonard — April 1, 2010 @ 9:35 am

  2. Good day, Jerry…

Well, the ebook has been sent off and video completed.

I appreciated your comment in the video about focusing and getting something done for your business: yes! That is exactly what happened in my case and I would imagine in most all of the people who entered.

Thanks for the offer and challenge.

    All the best you,

    Lee

Life Coaches are now all over Hollywood

Have you noticed that the term “Life Coach”, an almost unknown phrase in previous years, is suddenly appearing everywhere?

Pop culture is a reflection of what is new and popular in our society.  Coaching has become one of the fastest growing industries, and this is demonstrated by the strong presence of life coaches in the media and celebrity lifestyles.

Are these celebrities utilizing life coaches because they have become the newest Hollywood fad that will disappear before the next diet pill hits the market?  No!

Life coaching has officially arrived, and it is here to stay… because it works!

For many decades, only the rich and successful could access support services.  But now, these services are available to everyone, regardless of social status, income, or personal goals.

In recent years, many celebrities have sought out coaching services to help them reach their goals.  They found value in these services and have helped to spread the word about what coaching can do for the masses.

Several stars like Jeff Conaway, Kat Von D, Ron Howard’s daughter Bryce, television producer Scott Zakarin, Mark Burnett, Vanessa Williams, Quincy Jones, Serena Williams, and Donna Karan (to name a few) are discovering how much coaching can benefit their lives.

Robert Mack, a celebrity life coach who has worked with many celebrities, compared his role as a coach to the role of a personal trainer.  “Just like a personal trainer brings out the best in your body, a life coach brings out the best in your personal and professional life”.

Robert describes his work with celebrities based on the idea that you can build on your strengths, instead of placing the focus on trying to fix what is broken.  He enjoys the positive attitude that coaches give to the support community.

The popularity of life coaches in Hollywood and pop culture has increased exponentially, and continues to grow.  As more and more celebrities are reaping the inner and outer rewards of working with coaches, the media is taking notice and taking action.

In 2008, a comedy called The Life Coach was released, and already in 2010, another comedy entitled Life Coach has been announced.  The production of two full-length films in 2 years about life coaches is yet another reflection on this fast-growing industry.

Back in 2001, the film Shallow Hal featured the famous life coach Tony Robbins.

Coaching is also making itself known in the reality television circuit.  In 2009, NBC gave the green light to film the pilot and first 8 episodes for a series called Breakthrough with Tony Robbins,  in which he would help people who have been through some kind of major life event such as bankruptcy get started again.

The series Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp on VH1 features a life coach who helps celebrities get their lives in shape while they work to get their bodies in shape as well.  They have added the value of feeling strong and confident as an important component to living a healthy lifestyle.

Coaching has even found its way onto the Home and Garden network (HGTV) on its new show Home Rules.  The show redecorates family homes while the family works with a life coach to make their personal lives better, giving them a fresh start in more ways than one.

So, are Life Coaches the new Hollywood Teacup Chihuahuas?   Are they just the latest and hottest accessory for the rich socialites?  Absolutely not!  While coaching services are gaining more and more popularity in pop culture, it is not because the coaches themselves are cute, furry, and able to wear tiny outfits to match their owners.

It is because people are finding value in the coaching process.

At this point, you may be asking yourself, What does this all mean for me?

Most of us are not celebrities, do not have oodles of funds for coaching, and do not want to go onto a reality television show to get support.  But there is good news for you.  Coaching services are available for everyone, and at Coaching Cognition, you can get an introductory session at no charge at all.  The coaching community is one of helpfulness, empathy, care, and support.  A coach’s purpose is to help you reach your goals and your full potential.

Renegade Professionals can now access a coach and schedule free 15 minute consultations to find the perfect match for you!  Log into your back office and click on the coach’s icon to take your business to the next level.

For more discussion on the subject, click on the link below to visit the Coaching Cognition Discussion area.  We encourage you to share your thoughts and see what everyone else is saying!

  4. There are so many thing that come up in life…and having a coach can make all the difference…

Life coaching or business life coaching…is about succeeding from the inside out…whether it’s to change a specific situation, an area in your life or a complete transformation…a complete shift in perspective…coaching can help facilitate a shift to a whole new paradigm… a new way of seeing…

The fact that it is quickly making its way in to the ‘main stream’ is a indication of just how badly it is needed…

Ultimately, Coaching as the solution to the increasing stresses in modern society is most certainly gaining in popularity…for a good reason…It works…

    Thank you for your insight…

  6. We all have great ideas and thoughts in our head…..sometimes we just get overwhelmed, off course, or lose sight of our goals. A Coach is able to look at things from an outside, unbiased view point, and help guide us to our own conclusions and solutions.

Even the best pro athlete in any sport has a Coach. Now the growth in the Coaching industry will make this same one-on-one Coaching available to the masses to be utilized in all areas of both business and personal life.

  7. Isn’t it interesting how the right program comes at the right time. No coincidence!

The internet world has created the client, just in time for the coaching professionals. Get your self ready coaches, the best will dominate the market.

  8. Great insight!

When you have a conversation with truly successful people, they always mention the major influences in their life. So often it is multiple people, all acting as a coach, that have helped shape and accelerate their success.

I’m a coach myself … and I value the coaches I have for a very simple reason – Coaching Works!

  9. I’ve had the privilege of benefiting from a couple of sessions with the Coaching Cognition coaches.

I have to say, that even though I am a student of Coaching Cognition and working towards certification, it was a great help to have this objective input to issues I requested to have sorted out. You know, they facilitated the discovery of the answers from within myself.

Life coaches who serve their clients best, develop the tools from within the client to be empowered to solve whatever is brought to the “table”.

Coaching is a skill, yet the client is ultimately the “expert”.

    Comment by Pat Campbell — April 1, 2010 @ 4:35 pm

  10. Must be good reasons Robert Kyosaki is promoting his own coaching programs strong – he is usually right in seeing trends.

    Comment by Curt Johnson — April 2, 2010 @ 12:00 am

  11. Continuously benefiting from the support my own coaches have given me, I am gratified to see the public being educated on all life and business coaching has to offer.

Today’s world can be so stressful with the economic problems, and the lack of job security which then leads to pressures within the family — even health problems. A good coach can guide you to a place that’s even better than you imagined.

Robert Kiyosaki says times of crisis are opportunities for tremendous personal and wealth growth for those who have the right mindset. That’s where coaching fits in and why he uses it as part of his services.

It’s time to let our light shine!

    Comment by Barbara Silva — April 2, 2010 @ 9:50 am

  12. I really like what you said, Pat, about the client being the expert. Coaching is much more valuable if it helps the client actually develop life skills and practice problem solving, not only tell them what to do.

Being told what to do is nice sometimes, but not in the long-term best interest of the person being coached.

It’s empowering to learn you had the answers within yourself the whole time–and that you probably have more answers the next time you need them!

By now you’ve likely heard of the “What’s Working Now” promotion by Mike Dillard, which has launched today.

I haven’t personally sent a message to you about this yet.   Ann Sieg has on our ‘partnership’s’ behalf, as have many others.

I just wanted to let you know that this has my endorsement.

Every professional in any industry subscribes to at least one magazine / publication in their “market” to help them keep on top of things.

That’s what I consider this.  Another resource that professionals (and professionals in the making) should refer to.  I’ll be subscribing to it.

Below is my link if you’d like to subscribe today, and if nothing else, to see how Mike Dillard has positioned his ‘offer’ (always be learning from others how to get people to buy now–Dillard’s a pro at it.)

Partners in success,
Mike Klingler

P.S. I hope you’ve been able to check in and ‘witness’ lately how I’m using Facebook to create community and prepare to generate sales through interaction.  Powerful.  I’ll train on everything I’m doing soon… that’s why I’m doing it.  I always do before I teach.  However, you can watch what I’m doing and participate and that is an irreplaceable way to learn.

  1. It is interesting to receive endorsement on this work which is really a compilation of expert marketers bringing the goods to their teams from different sources.

When one succeeds and shares, we all can succeed.

It is a testimony of the common values of marketing “gurus” being generous enough to invite anyone who will, to the top.

    Comment by Pat Campbell — April 1, 2010 @ 6:37 am

  2. I was asked by a team-mate why would Mike or Ann want to promote someone else’s product rather than producing a product of their own?

I told that person, that value comes from many sources. We can’t be everything to everyone.

It’s like being a renowned writer endorsing someone else’s book because they enjoyed reading it so much. It doesn’t mean you have to buy it but it does mean that if you do buy it, you will like the story.

How Mike Klingler’s 16 Hour Days Has a Positive Effect on You

Mike KlinglerMike Klingler has been deep into creating new content that will have a big impact on the Renegade Professional community. He’s been testing new strategies that can create a Seven Figure Buzz. Now he’s preparing his content to teach these things to you.

In preparing this content, naturally, he visited the Social Marketing section in the back office of Renegade Professional. And when he did that, he made the decision to get started with HubPages first.  He recommends you do the same.

Important Information About Squidoo You Need to Know

What we found is that Squidoo has undergone strict changes. We’ll update you on those changes in future training. For now, it’s recommended that you skip the Squidoo tutorials and go to what is now the hottest place to start with Social Media content sharing (Hub Pages).

Again, the Squidoo trainings will be updated soon.  For now, we’d like to open up a bit of a discussion about something found in the Squidoo Terms and Conditions.

Read the excerpt  below, and when you’re finished, read our conversation starter so you can leave a comment with your thoughts.

t is highly recommended
that you skip
the Squidoo tutorials
and go to what is now
the hottest place
to start for this section
(Hub Pages).
I will update these
Squidoo trainings soon.
Squidoo has gone through
massive changes recently.
Hub Pages is now
the best place to begin.

From Squidoo’s Terms and Conditions:

“The end of spambait: Some topics are just irresistible to spammers. These are topics that don’t generally exist in the real world, that aren’t particularly useful, and that are very profitable to people who spam.

So, here’s where we draw the line between junk and spam. There are topics we’re just not going to let people write about. We wish we didn’t have to do that, but it’s the best plan available to remove the bad actors that want to take advantage, while keeping the site open for passionate people of all stripes.

So the deal is: you can’t build any content in these areas on Squidoo. If you are interested in these areas, it’s entirely possible you will bump into our filter (we call it the SquidDon’t filter), and if you do, we hope you’ll just walk away, not try to be clever and get around it.

Hey, there must be other things you’re passionate about in this world. Why not make a lens on that, and leave the online texasholdem4u pages out. Even better, we hope that 99% of you won’t even know it’s there.”

Don’t forget about the Renegade Professional eBook Contest

So when people ask what you do, what do you say?  “I am a network marketing distributor?”  “I’m an independent marketer?”  “I’m a teacher?” etc.

How about “I wrote a book called ‘The Top 7 Secrets You Must Know Right Now To Live Your Dream Life?’  or something more creative, but you get the point.

What am I talking about?

I’m talking about writing a simple eBook or report that will help you gain instant credibility.

It’s nothing “new” to most of us who have been at internet marketing and blogging for awhile, but I think it’s safe to say that 95% of us have never even TRIED to write an ebook.

But it’s definitely something to consider!

You see, when you are an author, people tend to automatically put you at an elevated position.

This can give you tremendous leverage to attract more qualified prospects.

So what will make your ebook stand out or flop (besides practice)? Continue reading to learn more…

  1. I would think that what would be irresistible would be programs that did have something to do with a miracle drug or something along that line.

I’ve seen emails pop up in my inbox that offer some kind of groundbreaking pharmaceutical all the time, especially things that are advertised as the next great diet, or sexual enhancement product.

I can understand Squidoo’s position on this. Although, I’m not a huge fan of Squidoo, their terms/Conditions are something to be cognizant of for those who do post there.

As a matter of fact, as Renegade Professionals, we should not have any issues with posting content that could be considered spam. No matter where we are posting content. We should hold ourselves to a higher standard anyway.

As I read through the list of items Squidoo has on the Spam list, I wondered why any Renegade Professional would want to run their ship aground at Squidoo or any reputable social site.

One of the things that did stick out quite prominently, at least for me, was the statement made by Squidoo that reads, “We’re just trying to keep it something that we’re all proud to be a part of.”

Isn’t that the way we all feel about Renegade University and Renegade Professional?

    Comment by Jay Dyson — March 27, 2010 @ 12:18 am

  2. Great question, because I just recently signed up for a Squido account to expand my reach in social networks. Of course, I want my participation in any network to benefit my lifestyle, whether I meet people who will want to do business with me, or I meet people who’ll love and appreciate my music and other creative works, but at the same time I want to write those real good lens, articles, blogs of substance, and my only dilemma (as far as Squido) is this, it’s all good that they want real writers with real experiences and genuine interests to share, but lately I’ve been doing a lot of research on online marketing, network marketing, how to build a downline, and I have some of my own ideas about the following, and it sucks to know that I might put my heart into writing a lens that can easily become filtered. I imagine the words (network marketing, MLM, marketing affiliate) and such alone would shadow the whole lens, and while they’re trying to stop spammers, it’s still somewhat of a turn-off.

Now, maybe that’s what they want (LOL) …to turn me off of their site, but they’d miss a lot of great quality content in the areas of entertainment, spirituality, religious conflicts, love, family, music, music production, and otherwise if I had not been in the “online marketing” frame of mind and just dead participating in their network completely.

I mean they let you link to your websites (and that’s a good thing), but they don’t allow what ezine articles does, and that’s at least lets you create a content page to be like a lead to your sales page, and I think that restriction sucks.

You’ve made the decision to work with a coach and get the help you need to move forward with your business, career, relationship or other areas. Congratulations! You’re on your way.

Now, the next question you want answered is “How can I get the most out of working with my coach?” It’s a great question.

Here are 10 tips to help you get the most from the time that you spend with your coach.

Be Invested in Your Success
Getting results from coaching is like getting results at the gym. You can join and keep paying your money, but if you don’t do the work, you don’t get the results you’re looking for. To get the most out of coaching, you have to be dedicated to your own success and to the coaching process.

Come Prepared
Go into every session with a clearly defined goal for what you want to get out of it, and be sure to communicate that to your coach. Schedule 15-20 minutes on your calendar the day before each session to think about what you want to accomplish, then email your goal to your coach. Some coaches have pre-session questionnaires to help you with this.

Stay Organized
Keep a journal or file exclusively to take notes about all things related to your coaching journey. This will help you keep track of your progress and follow up on actions that you identify during the coaching session.

Stay Focused
Stay really focused during each coaching session. Make sure you are in a quiet environment where you won’t be disturbed. This is your time to focus on you and you don’t want any interruptions or distractions.

Think Beyond the Coaching Call
Some of the most powerful realizations will come to you outside of your coaching sessions. Many times you will discuss something with your coach during a session that leaves an open question. The answer might not be clear to you right away, but will come to you outside of the coaching session. Be sure to record these insights in your coaching journal.

Stay Accountable
Follow through on your action plans that you agreed to with your coach. Be honest if your plans aren’t working and ask your coach to work with you to revise your plans.

Give Feedback
You should give your coach feedback, especially at the end of each session. Say what worked, what didn’t, and provide your feedback on how your coach can better work with you.
Share your Feelings. You will get more out of coaching if you’re willing to explore and discuss your feelings with your coach. Feelings drive behaviors and awareness is the first step toward change.

Be Open to Change
Be open to whatever changes arise out of working with your coach, and allow for whatever new ideas and beliefs start to show up. This might mean stepping out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new.

“Progress always involves risk; you can’t progress to second base and also keep your foot on first.” ~~Christie Mason

Give it Time
Realize that it takes time to create the full synergy with your coach. Your relationship with your coach will grow stronger and more productive over time. Plan to stay with your coach for at least a few months, so that your coach can learn how to best coach you and help you reach your goals.

  2. Cindy: Very helpful article, your ten tips offer an excellent outline for coaching clients to prepare for their sessions. Many times a client knows that they need help, but are not sure what to expect from their coach. As a CC coach I have found that many are not sure what to ask or expect from their coaching sessions, especially at first. Your ten tips will be a useful tool for them to follow. Thanks

Wisdom! that’s what that is… I think having a coach for specific growth and development is very important. For me, I didn’t necessarily feel I needed a coach either, but I wasn’t having much success. Luckily for me, Barbara Silva was moving through her coaching program, and we were already close. I spent a few really good hours with her that moved me, literally, over a wall. It was that experience that helped me realize how to recognize when I needed a coach. Like how it felt. This has proven tremendously helpful. Since then, I have gone on to find coaching two or three more times, and each time, I knew exactly what I was after, and just needed a little extra. I’m grateful for Coaching Cognition because now we have coaching in our backyard.

  5. Thanks for all the great feedback.

@Helen – you are a dream client. You are a get it done kind of lady and I’m so excited to be a part of your journey, because you’re truly on your way!

@David – so true. Coaching is still a relatively new field and many times people don’t know what to expect out of working with a coach.

@Marie and Eric, I couldn’t agree more. I first got really excited about coaching when I was coached myself. It’s like having a light being shined for you to illuminate the way. The light is inside each one of us, and the coach just helps bring that out.

    Warm wishes,

  6. Coaching is a great support system for getting over the wall, that’s for sure. For me, I value my coaches because most of the time they prevent me from hitting the wall in the first place. I like being in a “good” place and then working to make it even better!

Cindy, you mentioned that as clients, we need to be open to change even when it means stepping out of our comfort zone. This can include being very honest with ourselves about what we truly want and what we are or are not willing to do to get it.

Coaches like you help us identify those goals faster and more accurately.

    Thanks for all you do!

    Comment by Barbara Silva — March 28, 2010 @ 10:50 am

  7. Hi Barbara – It’s a true pleasure. This is a great community and I’ve met some of the most amazing people.

One of the things I love most about coaching is working with people who are truly inspired and dedicated to moving forward. They are willing to do what it takes to make things happen even if it means stepping out of their comfort zone. And, from what I’ve seen, having the support of a coach makes stepping out of that comfort zone a little less scary.

I am figuring out if the wall is a “firewall” or a block I have created. I am figuring out how to come out behind, over top or through the wall.

I have a question for you. Tell me if you agree. Your content needs to …

  • Attract attention and make people aware of who you are and what you do. Yes or No?
  • Transform that attention into income or some other measurable benefit (like more leads). Yes or No?

If you answered Yes to each, then let’s sum this up. content

The content that you create in the form of articles, blog posts, videos, podcasts, emails, etc. should attract attention to YOU (or your business, or your products).

It should also make people aware of who you are and what you do. It’s this content that is supposed to transform that attention into income or some other benefit that can be measured.

Wow! To me that sounds a lot like advertising.

Value-based content has become the new advertising.

Great content does ONE thing tremendously well. It naturally demonstrates that you’re knowledgeable about your field of expertise.

At our Thursday, March 25th 6pm PT Smart Beginner webinar, we’ll focus on a two tiered three step approach to strategic content development. Register for this Thursday’s webinar by following this link.

Be sure to do it now to be sure you reserve a seat.

I have good news or bad news. It depends how you interpret this statement. Ready? Here goes:

Content’s value has never been lower, but content’s
importance has never been higher.

This Thursday I will introduce a strategic content development strategy that consists of a two tiered three step process.

In the first tier you will learn pre-content development strategies. They include:

  • How to Gather Information
  • An Approach to Idea Development
  • The Necessary Process of Action

Once you have accomplished the first tier, we’ll focus on the second three step process that focuses more on the actual ingredients of stellar content:

  • How to give your readers a treat
  • How to be someone worth doing business with
  • How to sell smart

If you need help with content creation, and fast, this webinar is for you. If your site isn’t getting enough traffic or you aren’t converting that traffic to leads or sales, this webinar is for you. Basically, if the tactics you use to create effective content aren’t working, you will want to attend this webinar.

Register for The 6 Step Process to Strategic Content Development webinar now.

  2. Well Mike, I am so looking forward to this because I know that my articles have not been hitting the mark. I world suggest that many more people have not been entirely clear either. In the early days of my writing (not that long ago to be honest) I simply went into ezines to try to get the gist of how to approach article writing. There the playing field is wide and varied and I felt that as a qualified writer I could emulate the best. Clearly I was wrong. So thankyou. I very much look forward to getting some clarity on this.

This is serious stuff to get a handle on with early marketing. Renegade Pro is providing a huge service to it’s community with these training webinars.

Content development on my new blog is exactly where I am. Oh, I have some work up, but have a pretty good idea that work is required to get the CTR happening.

YES, I want ot attract people’s attention and YES, I want to transform it into more income!

I fully agree to your statement:
It seems like everybody is writing powerful content, eBooks, blogposts, makes videos… Reading some of them or watching some of the videos I asked myself what was the real value they provided, was it worth reading/watching, was this content really important? Merely not. So I’m looking forward to our webinar on Friday at 2:00 AM to learn the “how to”s of the content development strategy.

You are mistaken, but that is understandable. Renegade Professional is hosting the “Smart Beginner” webinars. These are a series of webinars that focus Smart Beginners are the essential marketing skills needed to build a business on the web. They also point back to important Renegade Professional training.

The Renegade System, which is different. . . you might be seeing that Scott Rogers is doing training for the Renegade System where he teaches his insights about effective ways to increase commissions with the Renegade Network Marketer.

I understand it can be confusing if you’re not familiar, but they are two different things.

  24. I would like to send a big shout out to Eric Walker for the giving of his time in bringing us such wonderful webinars.

The information that you’ve provided so far has helped me to begin thinking outside the box.
Having been involved in network marketing before, it’s not hard to see that being a Renegade Professional is something that is very unique and valuable.

Before, I was really jumping all over the place and purchasing this program and that program. Conducting business by being all over the place was a big time waster. I really wasn’t giving myself the opportunity to learn much at all. I was being overwhelmed with way too much information and I knew it. Plus, it was hard following through when information was flowing at me at such a furious pace.

I agree with your statement from last night’s webinar that there are too many programs that let you down in the area of how-to do something. You’re absolutely right in your assessment that you’re provided the what-to-do more often than the how-to-do it by many programs and courses.

When you made that statement, Eric, I immediately thought all the courses I’d purchased that left me with the question, “How do I integrate that into my business?” The answer was never revealed or if it was, it was vague and left me just as lost. So on to the next program in search of the seemingly elusive answer.

When I found Renegade Professional, I instantly saw that everything that I needed was all “under one roof”, which was exactly what I needed. More defined focus is one of the things I get by being a Renegade Professional, so it was really a no-brainer for me when it came time to make a decision about who I wanted to align myself with. My question was immediately answered as soon as I got into the back office area.

I remember showing my wife the training area and her reaction to it. Her statement was, “Honey, looks like you found it!” I couldn’t have agreed with her more!

The community aspect of Renegade Professional is a breath of fresh air. So many talented people sharing their expertise and skills are what everyone should seek out when it comes to getting some top-notch training.

Your webinars are just that, top-notch. And since I can go back and take the webinars again at any time that really works for me as I’m sure it does for others as well.

Again, thanks for being such an amazing giver! I really do appreciate you and all the others in this fabulous community we call, Renegade Professional!

Did you join Renegade Pro because of the training?

Did you read Ann Sieg’s books and then look for step-by-step help in implementing what you learned from her?

Did you read Magnetic Sponsoring, but then decided you wanted to participate in the kind of training available at the Renegade Professional?

If so, you aren’t alone. That’s what brought me to the site months ago, and many others have joined for the same reason.

In the beginning, when I understood that the site was primarily about the training tutorials, I had the crazy idea of just staying long enough (maybe 3-4 months) to study as many tutorials as possible, and then quit the site. But life interfered and I also wandered about the net buying other training products, and … fortunately I didn’t quit.

Actually, I still haven’t finished the tutorials, but along the way I discovered something.

The Renegade Professional is a lot more than the training. It’s also a Community.

To be honest, the “community” was largely invisible to me for many months. I knew there were Super Guides; it took me a while to grasp that the Super Guides

  • Are not just about the wonderful one-to-one help they give to many people.
  • Are not just about the training videos that they created and added to those of founder Mike Klingler’s.
  • Are not just about the articles they wrote and the manner in which they helped to draw in more members.

What I had not realized is that when Mike encouraged these early participants to get involved and contribute, they began to interact with one another.

Though they represented many different backgrounds (and MLM companies!) they began to see opportunities to grow relationships. And so the RenPro Community gave birth.

internet-marketing-community

Here’s an example of what happened from there:

Six women, brought together by a common bond collaborated on a webinar and e-book. This helped to bring new people to the Renegade. Shortly thereafter, Barbara Silva began the pilot version of Coaching Cognition, as a result of the coaching classes and coaching one another, were drawn even closer. The Community expanded and deepened.

We know that the site has evolved and will continue to do so.
But the aspect of community has taken a life of its own!

During my first eight months in The Renegade Professional, I was like the Prodigal Trainee.  I jumped about looking for the “real thing.”  I didn’t have a lot of knowledge or experience so I was easily distracted by the great squeeze pages and allure of other internet marketing gurus. (Mike warns against this in several videos, but I let it roll off me without grasping it.  Because of this, I was not one of the early Super Guides.)

I was busy reading and researching and comparing the gurus. Who was more experienced and successful?  Who was less expensive? Who offered more bonuses? Who had a personality more pleasing to me?

During those first eight months I bought memberships and materials from at least five other internet marketing leaders. I have met people who have bought from far more people than that!

Here are two key things that I didn’t fully grasp at the beginning:

  1. The Renegade Professional provides training on everything that can be learned from the sites of the other gurus. What I know now is that:
  • I wasted time and money wandering about. Unfortunately, this is an all too common regret of beginners.
  • If you stick with RenPro systematically, the other sites are superfluous. RenPro training is thoroughly customizable and thoroughly applicable to every skill level, certainly to the edge of the “somewhat Seasoned Smart Professional level.
  • It’s easy to be lured by the thought:

“But the other gurus provide so much good information!”
That’s true, but what they teach, that is applicable to smart beginners and to early smart professionals is available in the RenPro training tutorials.

Only The Renegade Professional Provides and Promotes Community.

The RenPro site is totally unique.

Think about it.

Other “gurus” provide internet marketing training sites, yet with no way for members to even know who the other students are. Does that sound like community?

I won’t name these sites, well-respected though they are, but face it, there is no opportunity to contribute or engage at any level; the value is solely about the training provided by the “guru.”

These are knowledgeable marketing individuals who do not want to give away their pedestal. Their name, face, and words predominate every corner of the site. There is no opportunity to contribute; they don’t want “competition” on their own site.

So how does the Renegade Professional site promote community?

Please watch my video. It only takes 5 minutes and, I respectfully suggest, you need to understand this.

  1. Richard,
I agree 100% totally with everything you said.

Renegade Professional is not just a place to learn advanced techniques for practically every aspect of online marketing through the training tutorials in the back office.

It is also a family community of like-minded, hungry individuals, who want to advance their skills as a professional entrepreneur.

This community has been my backbone to the future success I always new I was capable of achieving.

There are so many individuals here that touched my life, and given me the added drive “I needed” to conquer my goals.

Not just business goals either, this community has given me a different mindset with my family too.

A mindset that enables me to create better ways to develop a tight-knit, unbreakable, bonding family.

Let’s face the fact, I heard it many times in our community, it’s not easy to build a successful business and keep the family as your nu
It was a blessing in disguise!

Just to name of few of these inspirational “friends,” even though I never met any of you in person yet, you guys/gals especially became a big part of my daily life. These include: Patrice Walker, Barbara Silva, Michael Wilson, Mike Klingler, Eric Walker, Ann Sieg, and let me not forget Mark Hoverson.

This has been such an incredible journey for me so far, and to think it only started about 1 yearn ago with signing up with Renegade Professional.

Now, I am enrolled in PBN, Coaching Cognition, Leadership Branding, and have a private coach to keep it all balanced.

All I can say is WOW! Look how far I’ve come in just 1 year!

I not one to “toot my own horn,” but I’m extremely happy with everything I accomplished so far.

So, with that said, I just want to thank everyone of you who touched my life so far, and given me the little nudge I needed to fulfill my dreams.

    Thank you,

  3. Hello Richard,
I so enjoyed reading this article. I am, where, you were a couple of years ago. I only found Renegade this year. Like you, I have been distracted by other marketers offering to make me wealthy! If only!!!
Like you, I have stayed with Renegade, but I should have heeded Mike’s advice a long time ago and ingnored the temptation to read and listen to the hype of others and………….waste valuable time!!!
But now, I am concentrating on really understanding, and appreciating, each little success I have along the way In RP – like someone buying Ann’s book today!!! Do you know how good that feels????? My FIRST sale!
I know that I am not as productive as I need to be right now. Nor do I have a really organised business plan. You talked about making suggestions, so here is one for the less-discipled/less organised within our community. What about a step-by-step ‘How To’in order to establish one’s self online? That would be so much easier for me to follow. I don’t know what this would look like because we are such a diverse group of people. But what I do know, is but for my highly-organised husband (a mathematician) I would never have arrived at the place I am at on my journey, in a hundred years!

  7. I’m on a very tight shoestring budget but I’ve still tried to implement the excellent training I’ve gotten from Renegade University and from my Renegade subscription this month.

The main problem I’m facing is not being able to generate the necessary cash flow (from monetzation) for the resources I need (eg. Renegade Professional monthly subscription, How I Built my First List, etc.) establish a successful online business.
My lack of cashflow is preventing me from effectively implementing the attraction network marketing traininig into a successful online business.

What can I do to overcome these obastacles and keep them from preventing my progress?

    Comment by Eunice Reyes — March 22, 2010 @ 12:08 pm

  8. @Eunice,

There are two ways to approach your question.

One is more coaching (the inner journey) and the other consulting (outer journey).

I’m going to tackle this one from the “Inner Journey” side today… Because I sense understandable anxiety (caused by the financial challenge), which is blocking you from getting where you’re trying to go more than anything else.

There are many doors one must walk through to succeed.

The first is to focus “at least” 80% of your attention (thoughts, questions, emotional energy spent, etc) on the solution rather than the problem.

Based on your post I can see that this is the first door for you to walk through next… shift the emphasis in your mind from the problems and challenges and onto mainly the solutions. Right now you’re focused on what you lack (enough money) and you will forever stay in a vicious cycle of turmoil until THAT is addressed first.

Once you do that, you’ll immediately open up to different questions (and new solutions). Your emotional and creative energy will not be drained–you’ll become lighter and more open to ‘figuring out’ the answers (like what your niche market is, how to connect with them, what your brand should be, etc).

Tomorrow I’ll address your question a different way–from the “outer” consultative approach (the “how to” stuff, what to do next exactly, physically).

    One door at a time!

    Mike

  9. Richard,
What a fantastic observation. People helping one another — community. The true giving spirit espoused by Bob Burg in The Go-Giver (as I have written in several places, the “bible” of attraction marketing. What better place to learn to give than in a community of like-minded people who are all “in it together.”
    Bless you, brother!

  10. Thanks Richard, all this can be easily overlooked when you are beginning your journey. I am a fine example of this. I currently have 2 tickets to the Leadership Branding Training Seminar in Las Vegas on 15th, 16th and 17th April with Ann Seig and Mark Hoverson. I cannot make it myself but would like to exchange them with a senior mentor for training, and where is the one place I overlooked to make this a reality? Exactly, right here in the Renegade Community!
Thanks again for the reminder, anyone interested could you please contact me through my blog.

  11. Yes, I agree that being part of a “community” and that feeling of belonging to a community is very important. And for those who are not ready or just can’t find the time to be a super-guide, you can still be a part of the community.

You can find wonderful people from those faces right here on this blog and also at Mike Klingler’s and Eric Walker’s Facebook page. “Click” on the faces, then find their blog, make some comments on it, and those people will go and comment on your blog.

If you focus on just a few people each week, soon you’ll find that you’re getting to know people in Renegade, and you’ll BE part of the community.

The best part about getting to know people in Renegade, is that we are all learning Attraction Marketing. And, those who understand Attraction Marketing understand the value of being friends with someone, and contributing is valuable.

  12. What a great article and video Richard! I couldn’t agree more. When you join Renegade Professional you are joining more than a training program. You are joining a community of like-minded people. One of the things I love best is that there is a true abundance mentality whereby people give without expecting to receive.

    Many thanks for sharing.

  13. Richard,
this is a great article brimming with observations and heartfelt honesty. Some of your comments remind me of me! Like you, I first thought I’d stick with RenPro until I had learned how to get ahead, without realising how much more to this there is than mere internet marketing know-how.

This is about helping peoples’ lives. I was first introduced to this sense of community through SBI which is where I found Ann and The Renegade Network Marketer. From this I discovered the one thing which really connects people within this community: the truth.

The truth about what it really takes to build a business and really help people. It’s about being authentic as Mike Klingler puts it – this was my “a-ha” moment! Once I heard Mike say that, I knew I was “home” so-to-speak.

It’s the first time I have EVER heard a teacher/coach utter those words. And what a difference. Like they say, when you start telling the truth, people will be attracted to you.

I wish you and yours all the very best

I am completely new to the whole internet marketing field and I am so grateful that I found this system without wasting time and money on others.
I think I have found and joined the best and looking at your efforts has confirmed my belief.

  15. Hey, Richard: Thank you for the information. I can feel your sincerity, and appreciate your thoughtfulness in putting the video together. Wow, you sure are creative. Hope to develop those skills too. I am a smart beginner, and I belive as I continue to go through the tutorials at renegadepro, I will become valueable to my markets giving them guidance, training, and solutions. Thanks again, Richard.

  16. Richard,

Your six minute video called, “The Renegade Professional Site: My Prospective” was very insightful. I related to the visuals immediately

Your message is more than the community. It is about encouraging us to move further. It is about receiving practical training, establishing collaboration networks, and developing personal leadership.

    Thank you for motivating us!

  17. Richard, thanks for this great article and I also agree and relate to what you say. I joined RP last April and intended to only stay for a few months until I had learnt what I needed to know. What I never bargained on is that there is always something new being added and it’s not just a matter of working through the tutorials as I initally thought. Everyone at RP is producing such valuable content and the support and encouragement from fellow RP members is so valuable I recognise that I need to stay.

I have done a little of everything except videos and I know that now I need to build on what I’ve already accomplished and pluck up the courage to try videos. I would have loved to join the Coaching Cognition and the Leadership Branding courses but lack of finances hold me back. However, I figure that if I keep plugging away I will eventually be able to afford to in the future.

I find the more I set up the more there is to maintain and progress forward has slowed considerably. I too have also wasted a lot of time reading what the fb community bombard me with and I have to be very disciplined not to flit around from one to the other. You are absolutely right when you say everything we need is here at Renegade.

I’m so grateful that I stumbled upon RP when I did. Keep up the good work all of you who contribute to the RP back office.

Having a community to come to, connect with and rely on for support is so important. It’s what Bonnie Smith Sylvia also talks about in this short video from the first Renegade Professional live event: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDt7IQy2b6w

  20. Richard! great article, man can I relate to all the ups and downs you were talking about. Sounds like the old song, (first you say you will and than you won’t)but I have been down the same road, but I finally woke up and I’m sticking with Renegade Pro and following all the tutorials in order. I even figured out how to do my first squidoo and get it published, whoopee ! but ya it’s a great site. And to Eunice, I can relate to your predicament it’s all too familiar, I’m in the same boat but hang in there and focus and keep your head up and listen to Mike Klingler, he is the man. Thanks again Richard.

  21. @Eunice,

As promised in my last response, I reflected on your question again today so I could respond to it from another angle — the ‘external’ approach, also known as the consultative approach (in contrast to the “internal” coaching approach I responded with yesterday):

My last response is above at: http://renegadeprofessionalnews.com/#comment-3503

Your problem comes down to you needing more money.

It sounds like your first step is creating about $100 a month to meet basic business expenses (access to training, blog, auto responder, misc)?

So, that leaves us with an option for a part-time job… about 10 hours a month at $10/hour (or 15 hours a month to account for taxes, etc).

    That should do it!

The external ‘consulting’ response in this case isn’t as eye opening perhaps as the last ‘coaching’ response. But it is indeed a solution that will solve the problem.

If getting a part time job isn’t of interest to you, there are other solutions (there always are). If that is the case, my previous response is the most effective way to find a solution: http://renegadeprofessionalnews.com/#comment-3503

  22. Hey Richard,
This post conveys to me a most compelling message to anyone I refer to Renegade Professional. It will certainly be a part of my promotional message.

    Why?
    1. You are compelling, your story replicates the wanderings and searching of many. Your story strikes a chord for me with the realization, of the many choices out there, Renegade Professional tops them all.

    2. Truth, that honours the values others bring to the marketplace, but recognizes that there comes a time when a student of internet marketing does well to choose who they will follow and stick with the program.

    3. It took awhile for me, but Mike actually was the hub of community in the early days with our conference calls. Now, Renegade Pro reaches out to it’s vast audience through venues like this, Live Events, making resources available and real people accessible.

    4. Your video, my friend. Well, it’s been said before and can be said again. You have done a captivating, expressive visual to emphasize the reality of community and participation.

    Great job, friend.

  23. Hi Richard,

What a terrific article and video! It certainly hit home with me. I’ve been a member of Ren Pro for awhile, but have followed your first path for too long now! Becoming a part of, and participating in, the community is exactly what I need to feel like I belong and grow the confidence I so badly need in myself.

I so appreciate your message, and the example you set for those of us still finding our way.

Now, on to finding a guide! :-)

  24. There’s one thing you discover from this community of people. We’ve all have had to grapple with the same challenges.

I recently made the decision that I would narrow my associations to a select few, they are here in RP.

Essentially, I’m taking the advice I gave to me youngest son. His group of friends was too large. I would tell him that hanging around too many people would cause him some pain one day. It did!

One of the biggest problems that I was facing was that of listening to all the noise on the Internet. I was hanging around with too many people. This fragmented my efforts and caused me pain.

This community of Renegade Professionals is an association that I’m growing to appreciate and respect!

  27. Wow, I’m totally surprised to see so many comments to my article. It is interesting to see so many that agreed with some of the friendly advice. Quite a few mentioned how the community provides support. Again as many mentioned the need to stay focused on Renegade training amidst the allure of so much else. Thanks for all of the confirming stories and personal experiences.

Mike already addressed a concern raised about making money (quickly) to pay for ongoing membership and other start up costs of internet marketing. However, Eunice’s letter has been on my mind for a week and I can’t let it rest because I believe it is also a concern of many others. When am I going to see the money come rolling in?

My own thought is that a lot of this concern is created by unrealistic expectations. Depending how much you know about the internet and software applications, it is possible for some to generate some early front-end money — the so-called funded proposal notion. But even that requires a lot of skill in generating traffic to the various possible squeeze pages. I did not do well at that. I also didn’t concentrate on that too much. In my first few weeks with the Renegade Marketer, I tried a lot of TrafficSwarm ads, had a few purchases. But honestly, I didn’t know much about writing with pull and the Renegade Pro didn’t even exist at that point.

Many months later, many months wasted also (as has been noted over and over by others in the comments), I am just now getting a clearer idea of a niche and focus. However, … in all these months I have not made money. I am not complaining, just sharing. I understand VERY well what should be done from the very start. I have written about it! But I have hard a difficult time actually applying it to my situation. I doubt very much that I’m alone.

You see, the technical skills are indeed very important. I don’t think you can expect to grow much in those skills in one month or even 2 or 3. However, those technical skills (like opening a HubPages account and setting up one article there) are essentially **practice** activities. It’s a bit like asking middle school students to take a little bit of art, music, sports, shop, home ec (do they still have that?), technology, and other courses – they are meant to help you find your strong points. So the Back Office has a lot of tutorials to give you practice in writing, in copywriting, in video, and social media, and more. All of this practicing and experimenting takes time. Some decide early on what they are good at and stick to one thing and perfect it. But for most of us it takes a while.

But beyond the technical skills is something far more critical to your “fast” success. It is getting the big picture. It is establishing your niche, target audience, keywords… as soon as possible. The faster you can get away from thinking that “my niche is other internet network marketers” or “my target audience is boomers” the faster you can even **begin** to hope of making enough money to cover your expenses. Why? Because those are not actually niches and you **don’t have a business** yet!

For some, this comment will be seen as negative or discouraging. I surely do not mean it to be. I have many financial pressures. I try to set them aside. I focus on the daily and weekly tasks that will get me to where I need to be. Despite all the skills that I have, there is still much to be set into place. I am continuing to get it set up, thanks to a lot of help along the way from some really kind SuperGuides.

So I say again, you will make a little money along the way, but internet marketing is not something that will put **most** people into the black starting in the 2nd month, followed by increasing riches. There is a lot to learn, a lot to fine tune, and a lot of significant business decisions about focus to be made.

For those that are ready to quit because of not enough immediate income, I ask: Have you been paying attention to Eric’s Smart Beginner Webinar series? Over and over again he has devoted the bulk of his time –in all of the first 3 webinars– to critical first decisions. In the recent “Content” webinar, he called this the “First Tier” issues. You can’t just by-pass what he is talking about and expect to make money!

Mike suggested a part time job to Eunice. I say, do whatever you have to do — if you love learning this and love crafting your own business future. If there is no love for this, if it is a quick fix… then get out before you go into debt for nothing.

Because for most of us, it is about Patience, Prioritizing, Persevering… and then the Paycheck. All the while enjoying the ride.

I hope this comes across with the love I mean for it. And if others disagree with anything I have said, do feel free to say so.
